2005 Battlefield Classic Cancelled
I regret to inform you that we will have to cancel this years Battlefield Classic Tournament due to flooded fields.  I visited half of the fields for the tournament within the last hour and they just about completely under water.  I just consulted with the Park Authority and it has been agreed that all of the fields will be closed through Monday.

As late as yesterday, the National Weather Service was calling for 2-3 inches of rain over a 36 hour span.  In consultations with the Prince William Park Authority, we thought that this would leave the fields wet, but playable for the weekend.  Forecasts changed over the last 24 hours to the point that they are now predicted upwards of 5 inches of rain through Saturday morning, with rain continuing into the evening hours.  As of 10:30 this morning, Manassas has already had 2 inches of rain and the intensity of the rain has caused severe flooding of the fields.

We regret that we will not be able to play this weekend.  Our tournament committee will be meeting in the next week to 10 days to go over the debts that we have incurred for the tournament.  Unfortunately, there are many costs that occur regardless of whether the tournament takes places or not.  We need to make sure that we pay for the services that have already been provided.  After we review the finances, we will send out an e-mail to everyone detailing how much of a refund we can issue.   In all likelihood, there will be a partial refund with a discount voucher to next years tournament.

Again, I am sorry about this and I hope that you will consider a return engagement next year.

Thanks.
